The public schools typically place top in the nation. Chattahoochee High School, River Trail Middle School, and Dolvin Elementary are National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence. Northview High School has three times won the Governor’s Cup for the state’s highest SAT scores.
The Alpharetta Farmers Market is a weekly farmers’ market in the downtown area that opens every Saturday from 8 AM to 12:30 PM from April to October. The market was named “Best Saturday Morning Excursion” in 2007 by Atlanta magazine.
The Downtown Alpharetta Historic District offers several historic buildings dating from the late 19th century and older. The downtown area has been restored, replacing more modern buildings with period structures, and includes dining, shopping, and widened brick sidewalks.
Suwanee is known for its green space and parks. The most widely known park in Suwanee, Georgia is the Town Center Park, a 10-acre (4.0 ha) park on Buford Highway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. It is the venue for the community’s special events, and contains an amphitheater that holds up to 1,000 audience members where numerous concerts and other various performances are held.

On October 30, 2006, the City of Roswell was named the 18th Safest City in the United States by City Crime Rankings. It is bordered to the north by Milton, to the northeast by Alpharetta, to the east by Johns Creek, to the southeast by Peachtree Corners in Gwinnett County, to the south by Sandy Springs, to the west by unincorporated land in Cobb County, and to the northwest by the city of Mountain Park and by unincorporated land in Cherokee County. The southern boundary of the city follows the Chattahoochee River.
